About my Logo

Many people ask me what my logo is.....well, it's a sunflower

The brief I gave my graphic designer was that I wanted to use a sunflower but not in a "Nana" kind of way. The poor old sunflower has been done to death on greeting cards and in many $2 shops and nikel and dime stores.  I definitely didn't want something that was clichéd or twee and it had to be simple and contemporary.

I chose a sunflower because I think they are a lot like therapists:

  • They can grow very tall
Reflecting how tall therapists and their practices can grow when given the right set of circumstances

  • They grow bigger than tall poppies
Sunflowers grow even taller than poppies but people don’t cut sunflowers off at the knees for being successful, in fact their success is celebrated

  • When planted out in the garden they track the sun
This symbolises to me how in touch sunflowers are with nature and their surroundings.  It describes how much we can thrive when we tap into the abundance provided by the Universe and embrace the natural gifts of nature given to us to use wisely.

  • They are happy plants
Just like most of the therapists I encounter on the journey

  • They are sunny and bright
Whenever you see a sunflower you can’t help but smile, they are joyous, unpretentious and give off a sunny glow no matter how bad the weather gets

  • They are easy to grow
Sunflowers grow from seeds at a rate of knots.  They don’t need permission, they don’t worry if anyone is judging them, they couldn’t care what anyone thinks of them and they are easy to look after.

  • They are abundant in everyway
They take what they need to grow and are able to give back way more than they take.

  • PLUS when they have done flowering, you can eat them and they are healthy and nutritious!

I reckon sunflowers rock and if the therapists that work with me take on the energy of the sunflower then they are going to ROCK TOO!

Also, the second sunflower behind the front image reflects how a coach stands behind you, guiding, encouraing and empowering you, whilst also keeping an eye on you and keeping you accountable for your actions.

I loved the logo from the first moment I opened the file, however my new logo didn’t get 100% thumbs up from all my friends and colleagues. One friend thought it looked like marijuana – so I told her she definitely wasn’t going to be in charge of organising the next Love In!

Then a few thought the colour orange was an odd choice.  I knew it was all about the sacral chakra and creativity and all that good stuff but I have to admit I was challenged with it at first until Patricia my editor came back with this description of the colour orange

  • Flamboyant and Energetic: Orange is vibrant

  • It denotes energy, warmth and the sun

  • As a warm colour, orange is a stimulant -- stimulating the emotions and even the appetite

  • Orange brings up images of autumn leaves, pumpkins, and it represents the changing seasons so in that sense it is a colour on the edge, the colour of change between the heat of summer and the cool of winter

  • Because orange is a citrus colour, it can conjure up thoughts of vitamin C and good health

  • If you want to get noticed without screaming, consider orange -- it demands attention

  • Orange is mentally stimulating as well as sociable

  • Use it to get people thinking or to get them talking

Well after that the orange stayed and I’m really glad because recently I found out that the more we ground through the lower chakras, the higher we can go and the sky become’s the limit.

So lets use the energy of my logo and get out there and shine and rocket our success to the max!
