Answers to your feedback about what you would like included in a teleclass about running your first workshop or retreat

Q1       * be clear about what i am offering * how to advertise, get myself out there, let people know

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this

Q2       Low cost strategies to promote the workshop to my target market.

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this

Q3       appropriate target group how to conduct workshop costing or free

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this

Q4       promotion

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this

Q5 (a)      how to present the content in a way that it easy for the participants to absorb it

A *Mz M* - We will touch on this, but this aspect is a complete topic in itself and I cover this in my Sore to SOAR speaking workshop

Q5 (b)  also what ideas work for workshops and retreats

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this, although you never know if your idea will work until you put it to the market but there are some things you can do to help you get some idea if people are going to book.

Q6       How to pick a topic, how to market it, how to set it up, things to look out for when running.

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this – but it will be at basic level

Q7       Every time I have an idea I think I'll run a workshop then never do anything. Consequently I have several ideas but would like to work out which might be more successful.

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover this but to be honest you will never know if you don’t have a go and it’s probably not the ideas that are stopping you but the fear of putting yourself out there so we can talk about that on the classes

Q8       how do I know I have anything to teach that other people will want to learn? What if I don't?

A *Mz M* - Ah yes - but what if you do? I believe we have all figured out how to do something that someone else will pay to learn – trick is having a go and once you do, I’d like to bet you will have the same problem as the person in question 7 – once you get the hang of it, the problem becomes which workshop to deliver first :-)

Q9       Anything you have to teach on the matter. I have run a few meditation evenings and would like any information on doing workshops that will be helpful

A *Mz M* - great you have a few runs on the board at the front of the room – next step will be easy for you as fear of being at the front of the room is what keeps most procrastinating

Q10     how to integrate my knowledge, interests, skills into a form that is beneficial for others. what is my target audience? How to get paid what I'm worth. How to tap into what people want, marketing, the order to do things, co facilitating workshops--pitfalls how to do it well.

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover most of this but remember its only seven hours of teaching time so we may not be able to do this in depth but you will get the first steps - I will only briefly touch on the co-facilitating aspect because I haven't done that many myself but happy to share what I've learned.

Q11     how to get more excitement and therefore bums on seats, how to promote them well esp facebook and twitter

A *Mz M* - Yep we will cover these topics at a basic level

Q12 (a)      Time planning for the different types of info being taught, that gives enough time for work/break mix.Planning and writing the sessions - Notes for handing out and having the right 'hands on' to match the notes. Mainly so as to not get 'off track'.

A *Mz M* - We won’t do workbooks because it will be too hard to cover all the different things people will be presenting but I’ll give you an overview of the planning so you will keep on track as you teach.

Q12 (b)   Can a workshop realistically be done via Webinar?

A *Mz M* - Yes, but you have to be very specific about what you are teaching and be good with technology as a lot happens all at once with a webinar – I still prefer teleclasses because once the call is rolling then there are less things to go wrong, therefore less stressful in terms of technology going wrong.

Q13     A 1,000 sure ways to get bums on seats!!!!!

A *Mz M* - Maybe not one thousand but I’ll be giving you a couple of tips that have worked for me :-)

Q14     how to earn internet, how these down loads make u earn?

A *Mz M* - The first course I run will be very basic and won’t include creating downloads you can place on the internet – you would be best to seek out an internet marketing course for this information and look for a good sound engineer to help you manage the recording and editing functions.  In my experience I have found one hour of recorded material takes at least three hours to edit.

Q15     How to get more people signed up for the workshops and then how to ensure that they make an appointment to see you afterwards.

A *Mz M* - The topic of the last call will be “follow up until they buy or die” :-) but again this is a BIG topic and one I cover in-depth in Easy Solutions for YOUR Success and Sore to SOAR and Hell, Tell and Sell

Q16     The How...humanising the process into application...

A *Mz M* - Yep we will be very human - I’m known for my very practical way in which I teach and I like you to leave with the big chunks of the learning implemented and good to go

Q17     All the things you mentioned in the email.

A *Mz M* - OK – we’ll give it a go then :-)

Q18     course content, organising teachers, booking accommodation

A *Mz M* - We will touch on the first and last areas but this teleclass assumes you will be delivering the content yourself – having others deliver your content the way you want it delivered is a huge big topic in itself, and needs to consider many things which just aren’t applicable to a newbie and would probably stop them having a go at something basic.  Might consider these topics for an advanced course next year.

Q19     The practical business/legal aspects Time/energy/(&family??) management? marketing, advertising ~ but you've pretty much covered everything I can think of in your email ....

A *Mz M* - I won’t go too far down the track on the legal stuff because I’m not qualified to do that, but may consider finding some experts to bring in for another more advanced program next year if the demand is there for something like that.

Q20     where to start; how to do it with two leaders; what outcomes I can promise; recording it for later sale online as a package; how to find out what people actually want (especially when they don't know or can't tell me), and what they will actually pay for; how to price it and market it.

A *Mz M* - This is probably beyond the scope of what the first basic teleclass will deliver – I may consider doing an advanced course next year but the current course assumes you are the only person delivering the content and it will be for beginners who are struggling to get to first base – so although we will do a couple of the things you have mentioned, it might be at too basic a level for you

Q21     What NOT to do.

A *Mz M* - I’m the Queen of the mistake and don’t mind sharing!

Q22     everything you mentioned in your email

A *Mz M* - YAY – we will have a go at that then :-)

Q23     How to effectively advertise, that is, how to obtain sufficient number of attendees

A *Mz M* - Yep we will look at that and also when to pull the pin if you don’t have enough people and how to get out of that situation as elegantly as possible.

Q24  Can I pay the course in instalments?

A *Mz M* - Send me an email with your proposal and I’ll consider it, although from an admin point of view, I would prefer everything is paid up front and we will talk about why this is important in the course.

Q25  I am hesitant at the timing as the lead up to Xmas is such a busy time of the year. Especially if I need to do HOMEWORK each week!?!??!?! lol :)

A *Mz M* - Santa only comes down the chimneys of nice children who have done their HOMEWORK!!  But if you are naughty and get behind on your homework you can always ask Santa for an MP3 player for your Santa Sack and listen to the recordings over the holidays and catch up on anything you missed at the beach :-)

But seriously - I always find time for things I love to do and the reason I'm running it now is because you WILL find the time and you can finish off the planning next year but starting now means you will feel awesome when you are so far ahead of the pack come 1 Feb 2011 when the silly season officially ends.
